Number 7: Ghosts 'n Goblins

What everyone remembers about this game seems to be the music by Mark Cooksey, with its superbly atmospheric Wooo-ooo sounds and the change in tempo at the halfway point. The graphics weren't bad either, in fact they were damn good for 1987, when it was made.

Chris Butler and friends turned the Capcom arcade machine into a hell of an addictive platform/shoot 'em up game. Mr Brave Knight puts on his armour and saves damsels in distress, while being attacked by all manners of undeads.

This game is annoying and frustrating at times, making you curse and throw the joystick at the wall. Still, it has that special ingredient that keeps you coming back to it. Perhaps it the way that you know you can get just that little bit further that makes it so compelling. A classic by anyone's standards, this game deserves a place in my hall a fame and gets it with flying colours.
